Markets trade higher; realty, metals, telecom, cap goods gain
The markets were trading higher and getting support from telecom, metal, realty, capital goods, technology and financial stocks. The broader indices were outperforming the benchmark indices and kept the breadth strong. The Sensex was hovering in the range of 14400-14500 while the Nifty was inching towards the 4400 level.
Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communication, SAIL, DLF, TCS, L&T, ITC, ICICI Bank, Unitech, HDFC and Reliance Infrastructure were leading players in today’s gain. However, only few stocks were under pressure like Sun Pharma, Maruti, Tata Communication and Sterlite.
The Sensex was trading at 14,466, up 170 points and the Nifty rose 51 points, to 4,388, at 10:48 hours IST. The broader indices like BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 2-2.5%. However, the Nifty June Futures were trading with 10 points discount.
The market breadth was strong; about 2215 shares advanced while 565 shares declined. Nearly 350 shares were unchanged.
