Need to boost India’s steel output and demand: Steel Min
The Ministry of Steel has said there was an urgent need to address the issue of cheaper imports. “There is a need to boost India’s steel output and demand. Steel Authority of India (SAIL) will increase its capacity to 26 million tonne (mt) in two years versus 15 mt now,” it said.
The Ministry, however, didn’t comment on the issue of divestment in steel public sector undertakings (PSUs), saying it was ‘a policy matter.’
