As a result of the apparent fallout of A Raja’s ouster, Telecom Regulatory Authority of  India or TRAI has tightened the noose around the Department of Telecom (DoT).

Apart from issuing guidelines to DoT, the telecom regulator has also decided to check the credentials of the 2G roll out of operators like Idea Cellular and Spice Communication. The regulator plans to review the licences issued to Idea and Spice since 2006.

The telecom regulatory body has also asked the department of telecom to impose a contingent rollout on Reliance Communication and dual tech operators. TRAI has also sought the DoT action on dual tech licences.

Meanwhile, Aircel has said that they have not received any notification from TRAI. It informed that it became a pan India operator in 2G on October 29.

Aircel is planning to roll out 3G by early January.
